Hospital Based Cancer Registries in India

2012-2019

The Hospital-Based Cancer Registry (HBCR) study is part of India's National Cancer Registry Programme (NCRP) under the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR). HBCRs systematically collect data on all cancer patients attending specific hospitals, focusing on clinical care, treatment, and outcomes. The registries contribute to patient care, administrative management, and limited epidemiological research. The study involves interdepartmental cooperation, standardized data collection, and advanced electronic information technology for data entry and validation. The HBCR consolidates data from 96 hospitals across India (2012-2019), analyzing 610,084 cases with complete details. It provides insights into treatment patterns, cancer types, and regional variations to aid clinicians, researchers, and policymakers in cancer control efforts.
